DS PICKUPS® is an indie company dedicated exclusively to the design and manufacture of magnetic pickups for electric instruments, particularly guitars and basses.
Darío Soich (anthropologist, musician and luthier) and Donald Soich (electronic engineer and winding specialist) are the co-founders and responsible for designing each of the available models. They complement each other in a true team, contributing essential technical and artistic knowledge to pickup design.
The company was founded in 2001 by a singular event that marked the beginning of the project. While working with a luthier student on the construction of a Telecaster®, Darío came across a Telebridge pickup that did not work. At the time, the workshop had two winding machines that had been idle for several years but were in perfect condition. Darío proposed to Donald, his father, rewound the pickup and made it work again. They had a vintage type of copper wire suitable for that model, and after some preliminary adjustments to the machine, they repaired the pickup! Thus, DS PICKUPS® was born.
Currently, DS is located in Florida (Buenos Aires, Argentina), where a select and dedicated group of people work on the manual assembly of each pickup.

Our products are designed combining technical and perceptual aspects. This requires special attention to both objective and subjective aspects in the testing of prototypes prior to the official launch of the products on the market.
